HP G60 458DX Laptop Review: Good But With Some Cons
Looking at the HP G60 458DX Notebook specs, there are just some things that caught our attention. Overall, our HP G60 458DX laptop review is good. However, there are some problem areas that we wish to discuss here as part of our review of HP G60 458DX.
You see, some of the things that we like about HP G60 458DX are: low price, nice features, dependable quality (coming from Hewlett Packard, what do we expect?) but… here comes the not-so-positive review of HP G60 458DX notebook features:
HP G60 458DX Notebook Features Are Good But With Some Weaknesses
First, HP G60 458DX does not have a Bluetooth device so you can’t transfer photos, music files and videos from your cell phones to this laptop. Too bad, if you love transferring files from your mobile phone to your PC, then this laptop will not carry out that task. Not too friendly to phone lovers, if we may add.
Second, HP G60 458DX notebook does not have Parallel Ports, Serial Ports, and Game Ports so you cannot pretty much depend on this unit to play your favorite video games using your consoles (with computer connectivity). Again, these missing ports are important to some users so some may take this as a negative attribute/feature of this laptop.
Last but not least, the processor of HP G60 458DX notebook is only Intel Pentium 2GHz. One thing that we can say about this processor is that it cannot handle heavy workload like multitasking (opening 50 tabs in your web browser for example) or playing memory hungry games like World of Warcraft and other MMORPG games that will really put your CPU to the big test. We haven’t tried playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on this machine but we intend to in the near future.
So there you have it. Our quick HP G60 458DX review. This notebook in its entirety is a really good lightweight notebook. If you’re not a power user, this could definitely fit your bill (although some might disagree with this, bear in mind that users have different habits and softwares installed so just keep your computer workload under control, don’t be like us, if we may suggest). But for tasks that require more power, look at other models like Compaq Presario CQ60-420US (powered by Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T4200) as others have been open about their satisfaction with this model. The processor of this unit and HP G60 458DX are the same (Intel® Pentium® mobile processor T4200) but the overall performance of Compaq Presario CQ-420US has been more satisfactory according to some users. That’s their opinion so let’s try to respect that. The HP G60 458DX, on the other hand, is still a very good notebook – still one of the top products out there. We just have some biases against some features missing, that’s all. We cannot speak for everyone as we do not have the same computing habits and softwares in our machines.

Do you feel this laptop is inferior because it doesn’t have bluetooth, parallel ports, serial ports, and game ports and a slow processor? Bluetooth can be fixed with a simple USB module. Most of the things you hook to these ports are available in USB now. Both of these features I can overlook, but what really made me even respond to this review is how you down the processor and say its not good enough for a power hungry user and multitasking. They’re the same CPU-wise but the overall specs are not which might give you the idea that the Compaq laptop is better. Just my thoughts.

We have edited the article to explain our side. You should understand that we are not saying that we do not like the HP G60 458DX Laptop. We even go the distance and call friends who own materials we do not have in our place and ask for problems they have encountered (just like with HP G60 458DX). No notebook is perfect and the world of computing is a dynamic place. We do not review products we have no knowledge. That’s a policy among us. In some cases though, we overlook some things we admit, and we stand corrected for any error you might find in our published articles especially when they’re published on crunch time.

Will this laptop be good for world of warcraft. I do plan on installing it but if its not going to do me justice then i will not do so. I just want to know if im not going to lag that much playing wow on this laptop, and if this laptop can handle it.

having had this laptop for about 8 months there are a couple of things i have also noticed, problems with the battery it will charge then it won’t and the real major problem is the over heating issue even on a desk after a couple of hours of use you could cook an egg on the desk and i have also had the laptop cut out on me a few times and have lost work that i was doing, And now the battery life is down to about 5 mins even if it says it is fully charged, I have just brought my wife a samsung r519 and that is a much better laptop and have used it a few times and have never had it cooking or cutting out on me
