Novatel Mifi 2200 Wireless Router received mixed reviews for its price, features and overall expenses to be incurred when purchased with a plan with Sprint. This item is one of the best-looking wireless gadgets around but wait till you see expert opinions and actual user experiences.

For example, CNET review states the following good and bad about Sprint Novatel Mifi 2200 Wireless Router. Read on to have an idea about how experts  in technology view this gadget:

The good: The Sprint Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 mobile router is an excellent mobile Internet solution for a single user or a group of up to five people. It’s tiny and offers instant Wi-Fi Internet access and GPS point-of-interest function anywhere there’s Sprint coverage.

The bad: The Sprint Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 mobile has a few shortcomings, including support for only five clients at a time, the lack of support for the Wireless-N standard, and a limited and expensive data plan.

The bottom line: If you can afford the service plan and stay within the required data limits, the Sprint Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 mobile router is a great way to access the Internet on the go.

Sprint Novatel Mifi 2200 Wireless Router PhotoWhile the above-given reviews by CNET cited some shortcomings, user reviews of Sprint Novatel Mifi 2200 are generally very good. Take note, “VERY GOOD” not just good or satisfactory. There some some users though whose review will not please the makers of this wireless router.

User Review Number 1:

This is an outstanding and practical device. Very helpful in my office which has not WiFi for visitors and guests. Now it does. The more I work with this the better I like it. One glitch is that it seems to turn of the LAN side with low activity. The on board software is workable but nothing about which to write home.

User Review  Number 2:

I work from home 2 days a week with my old freebie Pantech 500. I got rid of Roadrunner a couple years ago and use my aircard for my home connection, so when I work from home, I pull the aircard out of one laptop and put it in the other. After reading about the MiFi 2200 the thought of both laptops working at one time was appealing, but also I read on the Novatel site about some new technology called Novaspeed, or something like that, which is supposed to increase upload and download speeds and this was my primary reason for giving the 2200 a try. I activated it on a Friday, took it home and it connected to the web with no problems, both home and work laptops. I used it Friday night, bouncing from one laptop to another, quite happily. I got out the instruction book and read about the IP address to insert in the web browser to customize security, etc and tried that. No luck there…the IP address didn’t work on either laptop. But what the heck, I had both laptops connected. I got up Saturday, leaving both laptops connected overnight and both laptops said they were connected via wifi. Unfortunately, my home laptop, even though the wifi manager said connected, wouldn’t pull up any internet sites. I restarted the computer and everything was fine. Eventually the work laptop did the same thing and I had to restart it. I worked all day and determined that the speed of the 2200 was no faster than the Pantech, so if I was going to keep it, it would be for connectivity reasons only. Sunday I got up, wifi manager still said connected, but no internet access. I did the computer restart thing again, but no luck. I did it a second time, but no luck. I unplugged the 2200, replugged it, shut down the laptop and started it up again, but still no internet access, all the time my wifi manager is saying I’m connected to MiFi 2200. So I packed everything up and took it back Monday morning and had my Pantech 500 turned back on, which is what I’m using as I’m typing this review. I’ll wait for MiFi version 2.

Lastly, you may obtain a comparison between Novatel Mifi 2200 Wireless Router and other products like Linksys RangePlus-n Wireless Router and D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router – two electronic devices that are sold without a plan. For practical reasons, either one of these routers can server you well for a long period of time if you only maintain a Small Office Home Office (SOHO).
