The Sony SmartWatch has the same concept as the Sony Ericsson LiveView Bluetooth Android Phone or Tablet PC Remote. However, Sony dropped the “Ericsson” brand name for the SmartWatch and so with their new phones such as the Sony Xperia Ion 4G LTE Android Smartphone.
This is a watch but not actually the smartest high-tech watch around. Unlike the i’mWatch: World’s First Android-powered Smartwatch, the SmartWatch cannot be used to write and send messages. However, it is capable of displaying Twitter and Facebook updates.
Like Sony Ericsson LiveView Wrist Watch-Like Remote for Android Devices, the Sony SmartWatch can be loaded with a lot of SMART EXTRAS developed for Android and optimized for Xperia smartphones.
The Sony SmartWatch may be optimized for Xperia but it may also work with other Android devices such as eReaders, tablets and media players. It will be released with Android 2.1 OS. It is made of aluminum and high polished plastic materials that is dust proof and splash proof.
Sony SmartWatch release date and price are not yet announced. It will probably be priced $50-$75 but hopefully, it will be cheaper.
