Canon Powershot SD890IS 10 MP Digital Camera Review: The Canon Powershot SD890IS has some nice features integrated in it. It has a resolution of 10 megapixels which captures good quality images. Its 5x optical zoom helps take closer shots than a typical point-and-shoot digicam. Canon Powershot SD890IS digicam also has a fast start up time. The shutter speed is average with a little lag between shots.

Here are the cons of Canon Powershot SD890IS digital camera stated among customer reviews. There are two significant problems on this cam according to one customer.

The orientation of the LCD polarization on the screen is such that when using the camera with polarized sunglasses, you can’t see an image on the LCD (in the standard, horizontal position). For every other LCD camera I’ve used the screen is 100% viewable with polarized sunglasses. The blanking out of the screen only occurs when you rotate the camera 90 degrees (to the vertical orientation).

There is CONSIDERABLE “Barrel distortion” when using this long 5x optical zoom lens in the standard mode.

Aside fron these two major problems, there are other minor disadvantages provided in the design of Canon Powershot SD890IS digicam.

Charging requires the removal of the battery from the camera, and it being inserted into a separate battery charger.

The power button itself requires some precision to activate.

The menuing system can be somewhat daunting to a new or novice user. Depending what mode your camera is in will change what menu options you’re presented with.

The spin dial (or whatever it’s called). I have yet to see what benefit this dial has over the conventional directional pad. It’s almost like a double-edged sword.
